More information on how the Uniform is worn.

Primary Dress of this group is the standard Wool Uniform.

Morning Parade Wear

You should normally wear Tunic, Trousers, Boots (gaiters if applicable) a Belt with Buckle, a bayonet (if on display), Breadbag, Water Bottle, Mess tins and a Gas Mask Case. Headgear should be a regulation Steel helmet.

Wear your wool uniform with the collar closed. If you have marching boots (jackboots) wear these. If not, wear low boots with gaiters. Next put your bayonet onto the LEFT side of your belt so that when wearing the belt, the weapon sits on front of the left hip. Add to this your Breadbag so that it sits on the back of the right hip over the buttock. To the right side of the breadbag, attach the waterbottle via the “D” Ring provided. On the left “D” ring attach the mess tins which should be held together with a leather strap. Now attach the buckle to the belt and place the belt around your middle using the tunic hooks to support it. The belt should sit above your waist and cover the next but last button on your tunic. You should be able to insert two fingers behind the belt comfortably. Next, take the gas mask container and place the strap over your RIGHT shoulder so that the lid of the gas mask comes under your left arm. The strap should go from your right shoulder to your left hip. Hook the container to your belt at the rear with the hook provided. Finally put on a Steel Helmet, ensuring it is level across the top of the eyes and fastened under the chin. Ensure everything is straight and there are no creases in your clothing. Check everything is hanging straight and check your ‘kameraden’. You are ready for Parade.

Field Order

Add to the above, Y Straps, ammunition pouches, an Entrenching Tool, A Zeltbahn and your personal weapon (KaR98).

When parading with, or working with Weapons, dress as above but add to your uniform two regulation Ammunition Pouches either side of your Belt buckle, Your Y straps, attached to the pouches and the rear of the belt, an entrenching tool on your left hip and a Zeltbahn attached to the rear of your breadbag or belt. If you have an A Frame this may also be worn with the Mess tins and Zeltbahn attached. You will also have your personal weapon with you.

Walking Out Dress

In its simplest form you should wear, Tunic, collar closed, Trousers, Boots (gaiters if applicable) a Belt with Buckle, a bayonet (if on display) and soft regulation headgear.

Summer Uniform

You may also wear a Denim uniform based on the M40 or M43 tunic and trousers. This is the Summer Uniform and you will receive orders on when to wear this at Morning Parade or in the Warning Orders before an event.

In warm weather and when ordered, simply substitute the Wool uniform for the Reed Green Summer uniform which may also be worn open at the neck.
